You have heard “misery loves company” or “attitude is everything.” Your mood is contagious. Your spirit permeates throughout the people you live with. Would you like to see them happy, loving and upbeat? It has a lot to do with the mood you bring with you.
Perhaps you think your mood is low because of your worries. Drop them. Harder said then done as it takes conscious effort on your part to change the habit. It is time to realize that worrying is dysfunctional. It only makes the problem larger than it actually is. It is an abuse of human imagination. Worrying is like praying for what you don’t want! It stresses all the people around you. As the 18th-century scholar Shantideva said, “If you can solve your problem, then what’s the need of worrying? If you cannot solve it, then what’s the use of worrying?”
So it is very important to feel how you would like others to feel. If you want others to respect you, to be relaxed and happy, then be just that. And if you can’t be that, don’t bring your problems and worries to them. Go do something else until you get up to the proper level of “life” enjoyment.
