Nadia Boulanger once said that life is denied by lack of attention, whether it be to cleaning windows or trying to write a masterpiece. I saw examples of this in the TPC Golf Championship. Players slowing down, taking there time, getting back into their routine to make sure they execute the next shot. If you slow down to the speed of life and pay attention to what’s in front of you, you will be so happy. Why deny your self life by being busy? The key is taking the time to be happy in everything. And, what works against this is the sense that time is getting away; there’s really not enough time in the day. But, you can learn to be grounded in this fact. We all have 24 hours! It doesn’t matter how rich or powerful you are, you’ll still only have 24 hours. Warren Buffet and Bill Gates have only 24 hours. Not a minute more.

The sun rises and sets for everyone the same way. And so there’s no sense in saying, “I don’t have as much time as other people. I would love to do that but I just don’t have the time.” That’s just not true. Only I can slow down to the speed of life by choosing what I choose to do. And then honoring it with full, slow, gentle attention.
