Financial Planning Day

I attended last weeks University of Illinois’ Financial Planning Day. I thought the event by Theresa Miller was a huge success. Theresa began the meeting speaking about networking, first impressions and communication. Sixty three percent of people find a job informally. Its all about building relationships, listening, asking open-ended questions and having good eye contact. When you meet someone of influence be sure to get an e-mail address, phone number and store the information on Salesforce as well as in a little notebook. Get connected with them on Linked-In. And, occasionally touch base. Life is full of twists and turns so no one knows when or where you will meet a mentor as we have all been given help along the way. Try it. As Seth Godin stated, “The only thing worse than starting something and failing… not starting something.”
