C.S. Lewis once said, “It’s amazing what you can do when you have to do it.”

Commitment means putting something in the “have to” category in your mind. It means taking it out of the “interested in doing this” category or the “would like to” category and putting it square in the middle of “have to.” Now comes the second part of commitment to the body: motion. If it is going to stay functioning, I have to move it around once in awhile. Because motion guarantees oxygen and oxygen burns fat and that process gives us energy to move even more.

Amos Alonzo Stagg lived to the young age of 107. The star football coach attributed his longevity to running and walking and forcing great quantities of oxygen into his system. The connection between health and breathing and life energy keeps getting stronger.

Commitment is therefore about putting your energy into the “have to” category and having the energy to see it to fruition.
