Craig D. Pfeiffer
Craig D. PfeifferFounder and CEO
Craig Pfeiffer is the Founder and CEO of Advisors Ahead llc., pursuing a passion to continuously elevate the professionalism of the investment advice industry and the successful development of Financial Advisors.

Additionally, Craig is the President of Hohting Group llc, an executive strategy firm focused on financial services insight, advice, and executive coaching. He is engaged as the Executive Chairman of the Board at Inlet llc, a joint venture between Broadridge (NYSE: BR) and Pitney Bowes (NYSE: PB), as a Senior Advisor to executive management at Broadridge, as an Advisory Board member at Snowden Lane Partners, and serves as a Board Director for PriceMetrix. Craig is an Associate Executive Coach with Lee Hecht Harrison’s International Center for Executive Operations (ICEO).

Craig is a proven senior financial services executive, following 29 years with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and predecessor firms. He transitioned from MSSB in 2012 where he was Vice Chairman and a member of the Executive Committee.

From 2003 to 2011, Craig held a progression of senior leadership positions as the Director of the National Sales Group, and later additional responsibility for Marketing Strategy and Client Communications, Desktop Technology Solutions, and brokerage-based Banking. Craig advanced innovative initiatives to increase FA teaming, and initiated the foundation for a culture of excellence with care of the client. In 2008, he further added responsibilities for Financial Planning and Wealth Advisory Resources, and heading a number of businesses including Retirement Services and the Global Corporate Equity Solutions Group.

From 1982 to 2003, Craig advanced through field management roles, starting as Branch Manager and Financial Consultant in Cincinnati. In 1986 he was named Associate Director of National Sales in New York, and in 1989 he relocated to Detroit as Divisional Sales Manager for the Great Lakes Division. In 1993 he relocated to Melville, Long Island NY as Branch Manager and in 1997 he relocated to Portland, Oregon to become Regional Director of the Northwest Region.

Active with industry and community organizations, Craig is a member of the Board and Executive Committee of Citymeals-On-Wheels serving New York City and President of Bright Seed Foundation. He serves on the Dean’s Council for Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. Previously, he was active with the Private Client Group committees of the Securities Industry Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) and is a past Committee Co-Chairman.

Clay A. Skurdal

Clay Skurdal is Chief Operating Officer of Advisors Ahead and President of their Talent Solutions Group.

Clay began his career in the financial services industry in 1983 with EF Hutton and Company. He remained with the same company, which eventually became Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, for the next 29 years. During this time he built a successful practice as a Financial Advisor and spent over 20 years in branch and complex management roles where he was able to lead the process of building successful practices for both new and existing advisors. His passion and expertise lie in developing the skills and personal understanding within individuals, which allows them the opportunity to realize their full human potential. In doing so he has uncovered strategies and processes, that when followed, can affect positive change.

As an active member of his community Clay serves on non-profit boards and is involved with several community groups. He is past President of Eugene Opera, Secretary of Marist Catholic High School Board of Directors, Board Member of O’Hara Catholic School Foundation and former Board Member of the Child Center and Volunteers in Medicine. He is also a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigations Citizens Academy.

Along with his wife Colette they have three grown children and make their home in Eugene.

Clay is a graduate of Montana State University.

Ryan Sommerville
Ryan SommervilleBusiness Development Officer, Vice President
Ryan Sommerville is the University Relationship Manager with Advisors Ahead. He acts as the liaison and continuously interfaces with Universities across the United States to educate students, faculty, and administration on the profession of a Financial Advisor and promote Advisors Ahead’s Residency Program. In addition, Ryan contributes to a diverse array of front and back end projects to help build and grow Advisors Ahead.
Robin Hannam
Robin HannamDirector of Human Resources
Robin Hannam is a Vice President and the Director of Human Resources with Advisors Ahead. She is responsible for all on-boarding and administration of interns and residents, their development and their employment experience.

Robin believes that with integrated HR programs that support the achievement of business goals, Advisors Ahead will be able to develop and shape the organization for future success and growth.

Robin began her career in the financial services industry in 1981 with a local firm in Portland, Oregon. She joined Smith Barney in 1987 where she spent 25 years in management as a Branch Administrator, Regional Administrator and Sr Complex Service Manager.

Robin earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management & Communications from Concordia University in 1994.

Advisors Ahead is a talent development organization that specializes in sourcing, screening, onboarding and developing the Next Generation Financial Advisor. Our business mission and model draw upon successful Associate/Resident development programs employed by the medical, education, accounting and legal professions. During the Advisors Ahead business formation discussions we believed the entry-level Financial Advisor would need more preparation earlier in their careers with interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. This new paradigm has lead to groundbreaking work leading to the creation of new training and development core principals by Advisors Ahead such as, Learn by Watching Success™, and Mentoring, Guidance and Accountability™, also known as MG&A™.

The Advisors Ahead Resident Program is focused on the University graduate and provides a combination of in-field work experience complemented by training and industry content. However, given the impact of the recent decade with volatility and advances in consumer facing technology, the dynamics of the client relationship have changed; there is a heightened value placed on trust and communication skills and there has been a transition of the dialogue from “product” to “advice”.
